My major is Advertising, with the certificate program of Advertising, Art, and Design. What I want to do when I graduate is to design my own print ads or commercials. I love to analyze ads and to think about the psychology of them, similar to what we did in class. When we were looking at the models in class and talking about how they look younger to appeal to different audiences, it makes you examine more closely other media that you see. For example, my suitemates and I were watching America’s Next Top Model the other night. Listening to the criticisms that Tyra gives to these young girls is almost funny. One of the requirements is to be younger. Most of these girls want to retire, thats right, retire from modeling before they are thirty, because that is considered old. Tyra eliminated one girl from the competition because she photographed “too old.” It’s just mind blowing to me that these girls consider 25 old, and that this is how the media is.
